Anxious For Nothing
"The presence of anxiety is unavoidable, the prison of anxiety is optional" - Max Lucado
I woke up this morning listening to Max Lucado's message on anxiety and ways to calm it.
He said to reduce anxiety, don't focus on the mess, rather, sit in gratefulness - celebrate God's goodness. I tried quoting him below, it might not be exact:
"You want to deal with anxiety? Don't meditate on the mess, meditate on your master. It does you no good to ponder or ruminate your problems or struggles. The more you focus on God, the more your problem is brought down to its proper size."
The bible says, "I will lift my eyes to the hills, from whence comes my help". This shows we get to choose where we look.
Max Lucado shared how his dad had a nightly 10 pm routine of going downstairs when everyone had gone to bed, to have his favorite snack of crumbling a piece of cornbread into a glass of buttermilk. His dad would check the doors and be sure to let his wife and kids hear the click of the locked doors. After checking the doors, he would yell," the house is now safe". Max went on to say, your heavenly father says the world is safe and you can now rest. Inspite of the noise and fears all around the world. Nothing is going to pass through you that won't pass through your father God first.
Face God before you face your fears."Fear triggers either fear or prayers, choose wisely. When anxiety knocks on the door of your heart, say, Jesus, can you answer that please?"- Max Lucado.
The path to peace of mind is paved with prayer.
Max asked us to raise our hands and confess, "I hereby resign as ruler of the universe". God does not need our advise or help.
"The quickest way to deal with anxiety is gratitude. As you look at your blessings, one heartfelt thank you will suck air and oxygen out of anxiety." - Max Lucado.
Max said "Life gives lemons but you know what my friend, you don't have to suck on them."
My aim is to share all the light I feel within me, with you. Everything will find its place my friend. I hope I have encouraged you today. Find Max Lucado's video below.
