ABOUT
Warning: This is not your typical 'About' page💕.
I created this platform in 2009 as an avenue for self-expression. Back then, I dumped my creativity in all its forms, joys, inspiration, anger, frustration.... all of me was right here. I called it Jumoke Odepe Writes.
Over the years, the platform grew with me. With age came clearer vision and clearer writing. I found myself deeply in love with encouraging others and sharing messages of hope. And so Vertually was born. Vertually is your safe virtual space to find hope and encouragement.
In 2024 the name changed from Jumoke Odepe Writes to Vertually.
I also found my passion as an avid lover of everything diversity, everything African with much sentiment for Nigeria, and rightly so. I geared my writing towards my muse and the platform morphed into a social change platform where I express how I believe things are or should be in Africa and attempt to shape the narratives where I feel it has been maligned and continued these writings on The Beiyge. Why does this matter? It matters because stories matter, and narratives matter. I love it when Chimamanda said:
"Stories matter. Many stories matter. Stories have been used to dispossess and to malign, but stories can also be used to empower and to humanize. Stories can break the dignity of a people, but stories can also repair that broken dignity." Chimamanda Adichie.
The continent has unimaginable beauties, possibilities and inspiration which this platform showcases.
Why The Beiyge? I dream of a world where when it comes to equality, all men are Equal. Neutral. Beige - Beige, Beiyge, got it💕? We are on a mission to paint the world, neutral.
The name changed -might still change but the message stays the same - here you will find Inspiration, Hope and a huge dose of my love letters to God, unscripted.
The Vertually platform receives thousands of viewers and I am pumped to have you here!
