Nigerian Culture on Visits

PC: Jackson David, Pixbay

Jack used to look at hubby and I strangely
each time after a visit,
winter or not
we see him off to his care

not to the doors of our house
but
to his car, even
if he parked his car at
the end of our street

we march faithfully behind him
we watch him enter his car
we wave at him and sustain the stare
till he drives off
we, freezing away

Jack later learned that
that's how we were raised to
see visitors off till
they drive off sight
it's culture
it's the Nigerian culture
it shows that you appreciate the visit
to do otherwise is
haram
